Plans for a new town on the Hoo Peninsula could lead to an increase in crime and disorder, Kent Police has warned.
The force said it would be unable to maintain an “effective and efficient” service to the public unless the developer contributes more than £200,000 to pay for extra officers and support staff to cope with the increased demand placed upon them.
Land Securities wants to build 5,000 homes, schools, shops and offices on Lodge Hill, Chattenden, the site of a former army base.
The plans are with Medway Council and a decision is due in February.

This is an utter disgrace. The Tory Medway Council could have avoided wasting £10m on a bus station that nobody wanted simply by flicking a light switch.
That the same Tories are now proposing to spend good money after bad, to create an exclusive free car park for its own staff right in the town centre, just goes to show how out of touch they are with the public.
